Well… When are we Leaving????

We’ve been pondering this question for a few months now. After we solidified our plans to close the office and move aboard, we realized that there were events in our calendar that were going to prevent us from just sailing into the sunset.

Still, we needed to make plans for when we shove off. We have talked about leaving the dock some time in mid-December and sailing around the Channel Islands, then heading south to arrive in the Sea of Cortez. We would make it there and then sail north to the northern point to have our home hauled out at Cabrales Boatyard. The boatyard is close to our property in Arizona (3.5 hour drive) and we could do some much-needed maintenance while on the hard.

Long term plans include exploring the Sea for a season, then sailing into the Pacific, making the jump to the Marquesas. From there, who knows? It’s an open ocean!

About Captain Tom

Over 10 years sailing and over 3500 miles under our keel. Was an engineer (EE) for over 30 years, then after moving into management, decided that the corporate world was no longer for me. Ran my wife's law office for 15 years and recently retired. Now we live aboard and sail the California coast, soon to leave for the Sea of Cortez.
